Creating Shape & Line of One-Sided Design

Tips & Tricks

Designers please note the material is large & heavy & may shift during arranging – adjust as need to keep your original outline created with greens.

Teapot

  • Fill taped container with cool water

  • First insertion of one stem of greens directly in the center open square of grid

  • Second and Third insertion of one stem of greens in the open square on grid to right & left side of center

  • Fourth & fifth insertion of one stem of greens in the open square of grid directly in front & back of first center insertion

  • Fill in with Eucalyptus around the rim

  • Continue to fill in with the remainder of greens creating outline of shape

Next

  • Pick 5 stems of Pink Cauliflower & cut skewers stems to appropriate length to fit your container

  • First place the largest stem of cauliflower at the bottom right – head resting on lip of teapot

  • Second place one stem of cauliflower center left

  • Third place one stem of cauliflower back right. Save the fourth & fifth stems to be placed after the peonies to create depth – designers choice to insert or not

Then

  • First place one stem peony center front – head resting on the lip of teapot

  • Second place long stem of peony following the shape & line to the right back

  • Third place long stem of peony back left

  • Fourth place long stem of peony back right above second peony

  • Fifth peony save until the roses are placed – designers choice to place after roses or at the end in any area that will complement the shape & line

  • Insert fourth & fifth stems cauliflower – designers choice

Tip & Trick

Make sure the water tubs are filled to the top before inserting material and the material is inserted to the bottom of tub or best you can.

Slit the hole in the cap with floral blade for larger opening if needed. When inserting water tubs find a secure place where they will not fall out easily. Remember when refilling with fresh water to refill water tubs. When designers use the term “fluff” it, means…readjustments to create depth & reestablish line & shape if necessary

  • First place one rose stem at the center with head resting on lip of teapot directly the the left & behind of bottom peony at lip

  • Second place long rose stem under the bottom peony at lip to the right

  • Third place one long rose stem at top right hand corner

  • Fourth place one rose stem bottom left corner

  • Fifth place one long rose stem above center (a bit to right) of cauliflower

  • Sixth & seven place one rose right & left of center to fill-in

  • Fill in Roses as need – creating depth

  • Add fifth peony at the back bottom right following the shape & line – designers choice of placement

  • Pick 5 radishes removing stem & leaves, place three in a cluster at bottom left

  • Designer choice placement of 2 picked radishes

  • Place stems of mint in 2 water tubes & insert one tub of mint securely at top of center cauliflower - designers choice of adding the second tube

  • Place stems of pansy in 5 water tubes – designers choice of placement

  • Readjust flowers to create depth & reestablish line & shape if necessary

  • Fill container with cool water & mist gently

Pedestal Candy Dish

Tips & Tricks

The trick is to keep the heavy material in center and at back so as you filling with material the arrangement remains stable and will not fall forward. Smaller designers can be made as the larger arrangement has faded by removing the fresh looking materials and repurposing. Recut the stems and insert new wooden skewers for a clean restart. When creating tall arrangements with a floral pin it is important that the tape grid is tight and well secured holding the tall materials in place.

  • Fill taped container with cool water

  • First insert cauliflower on wooden skewers directly in center & center back for balance

  • Second place one long peony at right rear for balance

  • Third place one rose at bottom center with the head resting on the rim for balance

  • Fill-in with small amount greens to create the line, shape & balance

  • Fourth place one long rose at left rear a bit lower than peony

  • Place mint and wooden skewered radish at front rim

  • Fill-in with tubed & long stemmed pansies

  • Readjust flowers to create depth & reestablish line, shape & balance if necessary

  • Fill container with cool water & mist gently
